Male Reed Bunting
A beautiful start to the day, only spoiled by my decision to go out without a coat. An hour out there was enough. A quiet day, bar the bird scarers, one of which went off as I passed it, but was not as painfully loud as I imagined it might be...
Until now the only Reed Buntings I have seen locally have been in my garden. Today I found a few in the hedgerows, but all hid very effectively from my camera. As spring gathers pace the Red Kites are getting frisky, with birds diving and swooping at each other, presumably in territorial disputes. The only other things of note were 4 Canada Geese, 3 Grey Herons, 2 Cormorants and Red-legged Partridge near the river Thame. Sounds like a Christmas carol to me.
