More Grot

Some filthy grot in the garden this morning:
But also some smarter young birds - this juvenile Chiffchaff was a surprise:
Out in the fields there was a hint of interest in the form of 60 Lapwings passing over:
And it looks as if the Buzzards have breed in the trees to the east of the river, this juvenile Common Buzzard (note the lack of a terminal dark bar to the tail and the pale edges to all the wing feathers) was making a huge racket as he circled and called:
Bramble flowers on the woodland edge attracted vast numbers of butterflies - the abundant Large White, Small White, Painted Ladies, Peacocks and Ringlets were joined by this Speckled Wood:
And this Gatekeeper:
And a cracking Comma:
