Its cold enough to see a Roe Deer's breath, but I head out to see whats roosting in the area:
And at dusk the gathering of birds begins, perhaps 1000 Woodpigeon:
Pegs Wood is a magnet for roosting birds, with Woodpigeons swarming around the conifer roost site in huge numbers:
But the main spectacle is the Jackdaw roost - a huge swirling mass of calling crows which wheels around the skies above the wood. I counted 437, but there could have been well over 500 Jackdaw, a stunning sight which is completely not captured by this picture:
