The Blackthorn is out....
... the wheat is as high as an adult Red-legged Partridge...
... and finally some migrants are in. Whitethroat, Willow Warbler and Sedge Warbler were all in the hedgerows, while a surprisingly late Snipe was flushed from a ditch by the river. The Linnet flock in the set-aside reached 200 with many singing from the hedgerows - could good numbers stay on to breed?
And while the skies have been so peaceful for nearly a week...
