Nothing beats being woken up in the night by the sound of your boiler condensate pipe freezing. So 6.45am found me defrosting the pipe outside, accompanied by an air temperature of -7.9 degrees. This teasel looks like it could have done with some defrosting too:
Heating restored by 7.30am I did a quick round of the local fields, but all was frozen out. Nothing of note, bar good numbers of Fieldfares, and this sunrise:
Later in the garden, in gentle snow, a Greenfinch. This species is usually abundant, but number have collapsed in the wake of the Trichomoniasis infection of the last few years. This male is the first I've seen in a while:
