Spring is slipping by...

A singing Whitethroat was the another addition to the trans-Saharan migrant list - although not the first for the year, following January's surprising record. Earth shattering news from other areas around Cuddesdon included the breaking of the local Tufted Duck record: today there were 7 (4m,3f) on the Farmhouse Pond. Does birding get better than this? I am trying to retain a calm exterior as the days of April slip by without any migrant species of interest appearing. I try not to recall that by this time last year Sand Martin, Wheatear, a possible Greenland Wheatear and Redstart has all been recorded. Looks like Spring 2012 is back to birdless normality. These local birds posed nicely for the camera this morning:

Chiffchaff, Reed Bunting and Linnet. 70 species for the year.
