Feeling it, but not seeing it

A perfect autumnal morning...


... the Beech leaves just turning and some local residents out and about:





But there was much more bird interest than the Jackdaws and Collared Doves pictured above. North Field was the main focus, with 50 Linnets, 20 Skylark and 10 Meadow Pipits. There are still many House Martin and Swallows about, with pulses of birds heading south at intervals. The second Nuthatch of the year sang to the south of the village and at least 4 Chiffchaffs were present. The hedgerows held a couple of roving flocks of Goldfinches, Blackcaps, Tits and Chiffchaffs. But apart from the expected autumn species, there was nothing of note this morning. There will be something soon, I can feel it...

Finally, with winter coming, here are some splashes of colour. Any Ivy flowers in sunny sheltered spots held numerous Red Admirals and Tortoiseshells today, always great to see:
