Snipers

The kind of cold, damp November morning that provides little inspiration. But I went out anyway. The flood meadows were doing their job and there is standing water from Wheatley to Chippinghurst. And water brings birds. There were about 30 Pied Wagtails, 50 Meadow Pipits and over 100 Fieldfare feeding along the waters edge, plus the first Snipe of the year:


Last winters drought deterred any Snipe from dropping into Cuddesdon, but today's first was quickly followed by number two and three for the year. Below, the flooded River Thame:


Then it began to rain again. 88 species for the year.
