I stumbled across this great video from the wonderful Cornell Lab of Ornithology, which answers the question: "How do Crossbills get at pine seeds with that bill?". Even better, the answer is illustrated with Two-barred Crossbills (or White-winged Crossbills as they call them in the States). This video stirs up happy memories of the female in Bagley Woods, Oxfordshire in 2002 :-)
